The Top O’Dwyer Oil Perpetual Cup made it’s way to Barna on Wednesday last following a fantastic victory by our footballers in the final against Caherelly.
Earlier victories against last year’s winners Cloverfield, neighbours Garrydoolis and Cappamore set up a final meeting with Caherelly. The final was played on the state of the art GAA pitch in the North Campus of the University of Limerick.
A large number of supporters were in attendance and the game provided excellent entertainment. In what was a gripping final, Barna led at the break by three points. Caherelly responded admirably in the second half to put themselves in front entering the final minutes but Barna weren’t finished yet and somehow manufactured a goal which gave them the victory.
Joyous scenes followed as Barna captain Aidan McNamara was presented with the cup by Br. James Dormer on behalf of East Limerick Cumann na mBunscol.
Final Score: Barna NS 5.05 Caherelly NS 3.09
